Economic Development
The Ybor City Chamber of Commerce is focused both on preserving and developing the National Historic Landmark District. Our strategy is to emphasize the Historic Latin Quarter as one of the key elements that gives Tampa Bay its unique flavor.
Primarily a regional entertainment center during the past decade, Ybor City’s central location, great transportation and critical mass of “creative industries” is making it the ‘Greenwich Village’ of Tampa.
Historic buildings have been turned into stylish offices, in-town residences and boutique hotels without sacrificing their historic character. In addition to being a top tourist destination, Ybor City is becoming a great place for locals to meet, greet and do business.
The next phase will include more creative retail, sophisticated nightlife and residential services. The “City within a City” is fulfilling its role as the cultural and intellectual hub for “new-age immigrants.”
The Ybor Chamber works closely with other organizations to protect and improve the District:
- Ybor City Development Corporation
- Barrio Latino Commission
- City-County Planning Commission
- Tampa Bay and Company (CVB)
- Film Commission
- Hillsborough Co. Economic Development
- Ybor City Museum Society
- Hillsborough Community College - Ybor Campus
- Historic Ybor Neighborhood Civic Association
- Centro Ybor Shopping Center
- Ybor City Online
